This specialized course covers the unique accounting principles and practices applicable to government entities and non-profit organizations. These sectors follow different accounting frameworks than commercial enterprises, and understanding these differences is essential for professionals working in or auditing these organizations.
The government accounting section covers fund accounting concepts, the modified accrual basis of accounting, budgetary accounting and encumbrance systems, and governmental financial reporting. You will learn about International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) and how they apply to government financial reporting in the Middle East and globally.
The non-profit accounting section covers the specific requirements for charitable organizations, foundations, and NGOs. Topics include accounting for contributions and donations, restricted and unrestricted funds, grant management and compliance, and the preparation of non-profit financial statements including the statement of activities and statement of functional expenses.
Practical topics include managing multiple funding sources, donor reporting requirements, compliance with grant conditions, and the unique audit considerations for government and non-profit entities. The course provides a solid foundation for accountants transitioning to the public sector or non-profit organizations, and for auditors who need to understand these specialized accounting frameworks.

Homework, or a homework assignment, is a set of tasks assigned to students by their teachers to be completed outside the classroom.
The effects of homework are debated. Generally speaking, homework does not improve academic performance among young children. Homework may improve academic skills among older students, especially lower-achieving students. However, homework also creates stress for students and parents and reduces the amount of time that students can spend on other activities.
